2039 Ultralounge Closing Its Doors?!?
It appears that downtown Fresno has lost yet another intriguing and innovative venture. 2039 has posted recent bulletin posts on thier myspace stating, “2039 has lost dance permit, must close” ” Check out Roe Saturday nights,” etc.
Someone please tell me this is a cruel late April fools joke. I know they have seen their ups and downs, and the management was often stretched thin and were slow to respond to customers, but that can’t be enough to force them to close their doors after a month and 1/2. If anyone has information on this unfortunate surprise please share…

Sorry Michael, No dance permit = no nightclub. I was really appalled see so much money being spent to create a space that was uncomfortable.

How does one lose a dance permit? I know selling drinks to minors warrants a club losing their alcohol permit, but dance permit? And the city wonders why people still never go downtown? That place was a nice addition to some of the (non-existent) night life down there and actually prompted me to move recently to that area.

I don’t think they are giving us the whole story. That doesn’t make any sense. I have seen much more drastic things happen at other clubs/bars and they don’t go out of business this fast. 2039 was open for a little over a month!?! It had to be a financial problem.

for the sake of accuracy, twenty39 was open for about three months.
you can lose your dance permit for a number of reasons. The ABC controls your liquor license, the PD and City controls your dance permit.
oh, and yes, there is more to the story.

I hope that thier closing did have anything to do with the fraud of a fashion show!!! I was reading one of the comments that G & S promotions did not come through with the money to Ed Hardy promotions…. It was all a gimic!!! Wow…. Can u say CON-ARTIST…. as for 2039 closing I am deeply sadden by the news. A word of mouth told me that before they were opening they did have some financial problems, I was suprised that they even opened!! But I was estatic to see a Venue like this open. Well, I wish there was something that the community could do. And the comment about them not contacting thier customers I was one of them… I reserved a VIP table and gave them my credit card number prior… When the time came they did call me back. Some of my guest did not get in… It was a mess, but at the end of night we had a blast, so it did not matter. But I must admit that with that type of buisness conduct, the venue was not going to prosper. Who makes their customers chase you to give you thier money! And I am not the only person they have done this too.

Clubflys just posted a bulletine on myspace - The Ultra Lounge did not lose their dance license! Here’s the bulletin:
Robert Campos, the owner of 2039 Ultralounge, insists his doors are not closing, despite rumors that say the downtown lounge is shutting down.
Word started to float around the MySpace circuit in the last 24 hours, and made its way into the blogosphere today. I got a handful of e-mails about the rumors, so I made a ArtHop pit-stop at 2039 and talked with Campos.
He’s heard the rumors too and explains that they’re the work of ex-employees trying to “sabotage” his business by circulating false reports that the lounge’s dance permit had been pulled. The employees in question are general manager Steve Sorondo and entertainment promoter Gilbert Gold, both involved since the lounge’s opening in February.
Campos says Sorondo was fired on Wednesday, though the termination came at Sorondo’s request. A bartender at 2039 said Sorondo “walked out.” The dispute, Campos says, had to do with pay and hours. A call to Gold this afternoon was not returned.
A new general manager — Hector Quintero — is already in place and was working at 2039 on Thursday night. Quintero’s background includes retail management, banking and mortgage. Both Campos and Quintero say that business as usual will go on at 2039, including weekly events like Thursday nights with DJ John Magic and special events like the April 11 night with DJ Skribble.

It is clear that the General Manager, Steve Sorondo and G&S Promotions were instrumental in creating a very classy ambiance for the newly opened 2039 Ultralounge. Beyond that, it is clear that their management style is unethical, unprofessional and irresponsible. If in fact, Mr. Sorondo and Gilbert Gold (G&S Promotions? hmmm..) are attempting to sabatoge 2039 then their ’shady’ reputation is well earned. The real news is “2039 Ultralounge. Finally…a REAL Lounge for grown-ups…run by grown-ups!”

Just to clear one thing up:
Steve and Gilbert are not G & S Promotions.
Two totally different things.
G & S stands for Grown and Sexy and they do a bunch of stuff in North Fresno at Salsa’s and a few other spots, I believe.

TO CLEAR UP THIS MESS!!
STEVE S WAS THE GM OF THE 2039 AND GILBERT GOLD WAS WITH THE ENT PART. this project started last year and was the idea of Steve S and ent part was Gilbert G… Robert Campos ownd the building.(LONG STORY SHORT)as we got this business going and money started coming in the owner of the building decided to step in and slowly break the agreement($$$) which was made with us and brought in a person to see what we were doing to try and copy. They now are acting as if this is what they started and created. (I DONT THINK SO)
we had a new fresh vision for fresno and downtown with many shows that will not happen now. DJ Skribble was the last event. now all u will get is the same thing everynight.(pretty sad)
we can not control every one and rumors that flow around.
to the real night life crowd… an 80 year old man did not come up with this concept!

As for the lude remarks on myspace from the original promotion team, that was the main fact that was looked down upon.
Now, it must be noted that since the departure, the 2039 has teamed up with clubflys and G&S promotion. Well that is good for Clubfly, but G&S, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I believe that this was the promotion team that flopped on the ED HARDY fashion show, and produced something that was generic.
Well, I hope that G&S will not under deliver this time…. and I really hope that The Owner and new GM have a good team behind them… because if another flop happens, it will not just be a bad promotion team, but a bad reputation for this venue.
Choose wisely who you work with, because your what your venue produces is a reflection of you, whether you like it or not.
Hopefully this time, the people behind the scenes will treat their paying customers with more respect.
Just know that Venue’s in Dowtown are taken seriously, it’s not a joke and those who truely care about Downtown want this city to prosper, don’t bring junk to downtown, or it will be talked about here on fresnofusion.com.

G & S Promotions is full of sh*t. I met them through their graphic designer Rogelio Rojo (aka “Roger”) of Trio Designs (triodesigns.net…he did the MySpace profile for club 2039). Roger told me I could sponsor an Official Ed Hardy event for $1500 or $750. He introduced me to the guys who were throwing the event.
One named Frankie and the other was named Dennis Rozadilla. This was the event advertised as an Official Ed Hardy fashion event, hosted by Syrus from MTV’s Real World and Girls Gone Wild fame.
Guess what? I met and spoke with Syrus during a business trip shortly after the alleged Official party. G&S Promotions did NOT have permission to use Syrus’ name or likeness.
Guess what else? I spoke to officials at Don Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier and this is what they had to say: the event was NOT official and they did NOT have permission to use the Ed Hardy brand or logo in their artwork. Yet, “Roger” printed up the fliers anyway and Dennis Rozadilla charged the public to get in.
As for the money they stole from would-be sponsors, many businesses in the Fresno Area are speaking out against these phonies. G&S Promotions are advertising another event at the same venue this Friday. This time they allege NBA All-Star DeShawn Stevenson will be in the building.
I wonder if they have permission to use the NBA in their advertisement. G&S Promotions is full of sh*t and they will be exposed. G&S, you know what you did and you will be held accountable. I promise. We will expose you.

I’m sure another review will be written on G&S promotion. However, Just remember the truth will always prevail. I wonder if Mr. Campos know what kind of people he is working with. I think I’m going to spark some controversy, and encourage an interview with Mr. Campos and confront the presenting problem, which is G&S. Okay Mr. Fresnofusion man, it’s time for you to expose these con artist.

Just to clear things up… the venue is called 2039 and the fraud was done by G&S, and the venue 2039 had no affiliation with the outside promotion team G&S. They just held the Ed Hardy show @ the venue. The way promotions actually works is that they bring the people to the venue, they gain all the money at the door, which the venue sees little off. The venue makes their money on alcohol sales. Majority of the time the venue will trust the promotion team to be ethical, however in this case G&S promotion is far from that, they are con artist and you have to believe that they have mislead 2039, and the venue will see that. 2039 has no part in this scandal besides being connected to these unethical people that call themselves G&S. But the correlation of the two goes hand and hand, and that’s the unfortnate part.

My friends are the DJs there and mentioned the managers being extremely shady. Something about bad management. They are no longer working at 2039 for this very reason.

Guys Im as legit and big as a promoter period in the Valley. No one has done what I have or will and I have done things here for and in our city on a National leval. I welcome the issues you have at 2039 and would love to fix each and everyone of them you have, I mean that. I will glady meet anyone that has an issue or complaint and see how to adress it. I had nothing to do with an Ed Hardy event and dont like to hear anyone ripped off or unhappy and agree with you guys. Just to let you know, I have heard of you. I know that you plan to do good things for 2039 Rick, however, I did not know that you went by RGM. I know many of those who are affliated with 2039, and It appears that you are going to be a valuable addition to 2039. I have supported the venue. In no way have I ever intended to offend others nor you. I am a very ethical person, your comment however did come across somewhat rash, and that is not the impression that I had of you, through those who speak so highly of you.
I am a very straight to the point type of person and in no way did I have ill intentions to come accross rude. There must have been in error in our communication.

I don’t believe Rick is being hostile at all. Although he is indeed aggressive in his efforts to come to resolutions. Rick is a “fast paced” man and works on a level much higher in momentum than most. Rest assured, any issues and “real” facts that are brought to Rick, are sure to be resolved in a very timely manner.

Whatever it is I will solve, we will get each sponser happy and take care of each of thier issues or anyone effected. I dont run from issues, I run at them and I agree with thier remarks, they wil be taken care of. I had nothing to do with that event and if I can do a $750,000 concert in 30 days from the ground up and 100 of the largest events period in the last 8 years here, I can surely fix these issues for these people. Most promoters are scum of the earth and fake people with egos and dreams that exceed thier capability, Im a real promoter, one who lives and dies with an event and assumes an emotional role with anything I do outside of the risk that goes with making or losing money. You will find no one that says I have not done what I said on any leval, small or large. Again, I will take care of each and everyone of your bloggers and or people that lost money or were effected by that event to help out 2039 and the club. Just let me know….Ill meet that doctor on Thursday, line em up! Who were you referring to when you said “fake people” and “scum of the earth?” Were you addressing anyone in particular?
If you allegedly have “nothing to do with the Ed Hardy” event, then why are you blogging about resolving it?
Since you wish to resolve issues and repay monies to people, have you done so and to whom?
We saw the links on G&S and notice how you take up for them. What is your involvement with G&S and why don’t they stand up for themselves if it’s all innocent?
Are you the mastermind behind the Ed Hardy concept? Maybe you knew it may flop, so you ommited your name from the contracts so you couldn’t be held accountable?
If we contacted the sponsors, would they say you resolved the G&S issue?

G&S does not exist anymore…. Dennis has moved on to bigger and better things. So stop referring to G&S cause that’s done and over with, there’s new projects prospering and yes Dennis is a part of it with RGM as well.

Just to restate something, RGM and Dennis presents are two different entities! I spoke with both today, and Dennis has reached out to the sponsers to correct any mishaps, and that is all they can do at this point. It’s time to move on and let him prove that he is trying to better his aspirations and the good of 2039.

I say that any content which is proved to be posted as an attempt to deceive the general public about 2039, Rick Mirigian, Dennis Rozadilla, or any other persons should be completely removed or labeled as false information.
There are a lot of gullible people who skim through this thread of comments and take what they read as Flat Facts. They then resume spreading lies and nonsense among off line contacts. This is to be the ultimate goal of the deceiver(s).

Yes the bank sued me for being 3 days late on a line paymnet, 3 days late! How did I take money from someone? It made newspaper headlines and has never happend in 30 years and only did because I was in the media and on the front page of the BEE 3 times in 2 months. Untouchable? Ha! I get hit everyday with issues, I dont run or hide from them and I have many scars and make mistakes, but you wont find one person that says I ripped them off.I even have paid my cell phone late before
Ed Hardy? Please if I can do 100 concerts and sell a movie in hollywood you think I couldnt do a Ed Hardy event? You my friend sound like you could not throw a birthday party right. WOW I was just trying to see how Ultra Lounge was doing since it opened and BAM! ALL THIS. I was the headlining DJ for the grand opening night of Ultralounge. It was a great night and the place seemed to have a world of potential. I was headlining DJ and promoter for many years in Fresno before moving back to L.A. Rick and I have had our differences but I have never been cheated by him. he always held up his end of the contracts with me. I must say though I am sad to see the state of Fresno night life in the last few years, I can not fathom promoters charging club prices to get into a dingy bar. With sub Par sound systems and carpet for a dancefloor. clubgoers change wont come unless u take action…. peace
